Lithium Recycling

The challenges associated with recycling lithium batteries is that it is a difficult process which is not economically feasible for companies. In addition, there are various types of lithium batteries, and each would require a different recycling process. The only large scale lithium recycling facility in the world is located in Hoboken, Belgium, and has capacity for recycling 7,000 metric tons per year. Due to the diversity of lithium battery construction, there is an argument for varied small scale recycling projects rather than large scale.
